Multi-Stakeholder Research Colloquia

EABIS is each year organising a Multi-Stakeholder Research Colloquium, which is a large event for mobilising an international community of researchers across disciplines and institutions along with a broad coalition of stakeholders on the subject of CSR research. The colloquiums are regular milestones for EABIS in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The colloquiums are an important platform for reviewing and disseminating the insights and conclusions from other streams of CSR Platform project.

colloquium2004registration_jpg_media_public.jpg The informal, supporting networks on intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary research will assist in organising working sessions during the colloquium, working papers from these networks will be distributed, young research professional will help organise PhD events and the multi-stakeholder core group will advise on emerging issues and how to engage a wide range of stakeholders.

As such the colloquia both create coherence within the project and synergy effects between the different work streams. They contribute to achieving all of the goals of the CSR Platform project with regards to overcoming the fragmented co-ordination of research in Europe by:

  • Mobilising all parts of the researcher community; fostering regular large-scale participation and cooperation with business, policy makers and other key stakeholders
  • Focusing on a specific theme or area of research on CSR and ensuring an ongoing dissemination of the CA’s activities as well as the results of the colloquiums themselves.

Specifically, the Colloquia:

  • Highlight existing state of affairs in the fields of research on CSR
  • Allow for exchange experiences and case studies on the inter-linkages between research in academic institutions and CSR practices in companies
  • Create opportunities to learn from the past, identify progress and obstacles and define new routes and activities for the CA and in the field of intradisciplinary, interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder CSR research
  • Create a multi-stakeholder forum for social dialogue and policy debate on the overall role and suitability of CSR as means of regulating social behaviour, compared to e.g. public regulation and the consequences of the shifting roles of the public, private and social sectors for democracy and accountability
  • Allow for the dissemination of results and an update on the progress made over the last year in research on CA activities.
