The 2007 European Faculty Pioneer Award
The European
Academy of Business in Society (EABIS) and the Aspen
Institute presented the Fourth Edition of the European Faculty Pioneer
Awards with a special ceremony during the Gala Dinner at 2007 Annual
Colloquium in Barcelona, September 20.
We were especially pleased to honour outstanding educators in two different categories:
Prof. Chris Hope,
Senior Lecturer, Judge Business School, and Director of Management
Studies Tripos, University of Cambridge was the winner of the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Faculty Pioneer Award.
Prof.
Hope was selected by the judging panel for his pioneering research on
the major issue of climate change, as well as his institutional
leadership and his commitment in advancing corporate responsibility
research and learning.
Previous
accomplishments also include over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals
as well as an acknowledged presence in the public policy sphere with:
- A
nomination by the UK government as a Lead Author for the influential
Third and Fourth Assessment Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC) in 1998 and 2005
- An appointment as specialist advisor to the House of Lords Select Committee investigating climate change
‘Highly Recommended Runners-Up’ educators in this category were:

David Crowther, Professor of Corporate Social Responsibility, De Montfort University Leicester Business School

Malcolm McIntosh, Professor of Human Security and Director of the ARCHS Centre, Coventry University
Prof. Andre Sobczak,
Associate Professor at Audencia Nantes School of Management, and
Founding Director of Audencia's Centre for Global Responsibility is the
winner of the 2007 "Rising Star” Faculty Pioneer Award for his leadership in global responsibility mainstreaming initiatives on a national as well as an international level.
Prof.
Sobczak is also coordinating the reporting framework on global
responsibility for learning organizations within the GRLI, where he
represents Audencia, following his leading role in implementing the
Global Compact principles in the business school.

The 2006 European Faculty Pioneer Award
The European
Academy of Business in Society (EABIS) and the Aspen Institute have
once again partnered to present the Third Edition of the European
Faculty Pioneer Awards.
Professor Nigel Roome who currently serves as the Daniel Janssen Chair of
Corporate Social Responsibility at Solvay Business School(Free
University of Brussels, Belgium), was the winner of the prestigious
award. Prof. Roome has consistently generated an
outstanding body of research, embodied excellence in leading curriculum
development initiatives and shown a deep commitment to advancing
corporate responsibility knowledge, learning and training
The
judging panel chose to honour three other leading educators as ‘Highly
Recommended Runners-Up’ for their own accomplishments:
- Prof. Antonio Argandoña – Holder of the La Caixa Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance at IESE Business School in Barcelona
- Prof. Ans Kolk – As Director of Research at the University of Amsterdam Business School
- Prof. Wojciech Gasparski – Founder and director of the Business Ethics Centre at Kozminski Academy in Warsaw

The 2005 European Faculty Pioneer Award
The joint winners of the 2005 European award were Prof. Jeremy Moon, Nottingham University Business School and Prof. Craig Smith, London Business School, with Prof. Judi Marshall of University of Bath School of Management as highly commended runner-up.
The 2003 European Faculty Pioneer Award
The European Faculty Pioneer Award was this year awarded to Prof. Alyson Warhurst, Warwick Business School, Corporate
Citizenship Unit.The award was presented to Professor Warhurst at a
ceremony during the EABIS second colloquium the 19 September 2003.
Alyson Warhurst is one of the most committed individuals behind the
EABIS.
Prof. Josep Maria Lozano Soler, ESADE, Institute for the Individual, Corporations and Society and Prof. Miguel Angel Rodriguez, IESE Business School, Centre for Sustainable Enterprise, were runner-ups.
