European Faculty Pioneer Award 2007

The European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS) and the Aspen Institute presented the Fourth Edition of the European Faculty Pioneer Awards with a special ceremony during the Gala Dinner at 2007 Annual Colloquium in Barcelona, September 20.

We were especially pleased to honour outstanding educators in two different categories:

  • the European “Rising Star” Faculty Pioneer Award
  • the European “Lifetime Achievement” Faculty Pioneer Award

Chris Hope receiving AwardProf. Chris Hope, Senior Lecturer, Judge Business School, and Director of Management Studies Tripos, University of Cambridge was the winner of the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Faculty Pioneer Award.

Prof. Hope was selected by the judging panel for his pioneering research on the major issue of climate change, as well as his institutional leadership and his commitment in advancing corporate responsibility research and learning.

Previous accomplishments also include over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as an acknowledged presence in the public policy sphere with:

  • A nomination by the UK government as a Lead Author for the influential Third and Fourth Assessment Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1998 and 2005
  • An appointment as specialist advisor to the House of Lords Select Committee investigating climate change

Andre Sobjzak Award CeremonyProf. Andre Sobczak, Associate Professor at Audencia Nantes School of Management, and Founding Director of Audencia's Centre for Global Responsibility is the winner of the 2007 "Rising Star” Faculty Pioneer Award for his leadership in global responsibility mainstreaming initiatives on a national as well as an international level.

Prof. Sobczak is also coordinating the reporting framework on global responsibility for learning organizations within the GRLI, where he represents Audencia, following his leading role in implementing the Global Compact principles in the business school.
