Call for Papers on CSR and Corporate Governance

The JFBS 3rd Annual Conference 2013 is co-hosted by Japan Forum of Business and Society (JFBS), Humboldt University International CSR Conference(HU CSR) and Japanese German Center Berlin (JDZB). It will take place on 19-20 Sept 2013, Tokyo, Japan.

How is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) understood and managed in business organizations and how is it part of ‘good’ Corporate Governance?
It is widely acknowledged that CSR should be incorporated into management processes and this forms a core part of many management strategies and business plans. Executives face a challenge in developing and implementing a CSR strategy which addresses the varying needs of stakeholders. It is also significant to consider the interdependence between corporate governance and CSR.
Japanese Approaches to CSR: Expectations around corporations’ CSR activities have grown in Japan over the past decade. How far do Japanese companies embed CSR in management processes? How are Japanese companies contributing to global sustainable development?
In this regard, the organisers are inviting submissions of initial contribution as follows.

Proposals may address the subthemes listed below but do not necessarily have to be limited to these. Rather they should investigate subjects representing cutting edge fields of research:

• Strategic sustainability management
• Relationship between CSR and corporate governance
• Comparative study of corporate governance
• New forms of multi-stakeholder governance
• The future of CSR and/or corporate governance
• Responsible management and integrated reporting
• Responsible supply chain management
• Sustainability challenges and business in society
