Foundation funding
Private foundations do not fund research on a regular basis, although there are exceptions such as those listed below.
Efforts in connecting foundations and researchers led to the 2006 E.U. conference on Giving for Research for Europe: Strengthening the role of Philanthropy in the financing of Research.
In 2007, the European Foundation Centre began the European Forum on Philanthropy and Research Funding.
The Forum:
- holds annual conferences connecting foundations and stakeholders;
- organises seminars to
- exchange best practices,
- map foundation research funding,
- facilitate a favourable legal and fiscal environment for European philanthropy.
